my uncle had a 1997 and although the interior was TRASHED the car lived at 8000 feet for 200,000 plus miles pulling a ski boat to the lake at least one day a week over high mountain passes. its was a pretty impressive thing to see it survive that long.

I think that’s about what they’re worth. They’re pretty good trucks, but not fantastic . If you’re handy with a wrench and a multimeter, this would be a great driver. I wouldn’t buy one for my mom, though. I’ve never owned an Isuzu truck, but several friends have. They all seem to have little problems here and there, kinda like an old Cherokee. No show-stoppers, but just enough to make you want to keep a tool kit in the back.

I actually owned a manual Trooper in college. It was a great truck. I had the higher end one though. I think you’re seeing a combination of manual transmission, base model, and dead brand. It would be a good platform for someone’s overland rig though.
